All online gambling is based on betting on the outcome of a randomly generated number or an RNG. Provably Fair has been designed to provide proof that the number generated by the RNG was really random.
In simple words, the Provably Fair tool calculates the outcome of each round before an actual bet is placed. Everything that happens afterwards is simply to assure the players the game is fair and unaffected by their bets.
In a provably fair casino, players do not rely solely on the server to generate the random number - players have a hand in the generation of the random number.
Provably fair casinos utilize a function called cryptographic hash. This algorithm is implemented to ensure that neither they or the player will possibly ever know how a deck will be shuffled until it has been dealt. Since the player is the only one who knows the number that was used to seed the number generator, it is safe to assume that there is no way for the online gaming platform or game provider to manipulate the results.
The iLucki casino supports the Provably Fair technology to ensure a more favorable gaming experience. It allows a reliable and trustworthy form of gambling and maintains transparency, honesty and satisfaction.
A wide array of games from BGaming support the Provably Fair feature, for example the card games Baccarat, Caribbean Poker, Casino Holdem, Let it Ride, Multihand Blackjack, Oasis Poker, Texas Holdem, Trey Poker and all the slot games except Johnny the Octopus.
You may find the Provably Fair widget, on the right hand side, on the games mentioned.
Below is the example of a player picking their own number for a slot game:
The player is placing a bet and spinning. Once the outcome is displayed for a player, another block becomes available in the Provably Fair widget - Last Game.
From the workflow, we already know what the player should receive: Result + Secret, Client Seed, Hash and Final Result.
The Result + Secret looks like this group of symbols below:
{"symbols":[["man","j","t","q","t"],["chief","girl","j","a","a"],["j","k","q","t","chief"],["girl","man","face","k","t"],["k","face","t","man","k"],["a","j","a","j","girl"],["q","t","q","t","t"],["k","a","k","k","a"],["t","beast","beast","q","beast"],["q","j","q","a","t"],["a","k","man","t","a"],["face","a","face","q","face"]],"card":"4H","game":"AztecMagic","secret":"b52d25dbfdcc5aefaa6d426028b28bbc"}
As we can move the reels to 9 positions, with the Seed selection number of 9, we see there are 12 reels in the resulting string.
The ‘Game’ represents the ID of whichever game you are playing. And this ID is part of the Hash configuration. This is the only role of the Game in this process.
A key part of the process is the Secret – a randomly generated string. The Secret stops the player from knowing the result too early in the round.
Once you have the Result and Secret, you can confirm the Hash the player has is identical to the Hash a Hash generator can create.
Now you can see the Hash created by our online tool next to the Hash received by the player in the game – Hash (Result + Secret): f51a2650ccac3416b0dbc9ac10a7f5de0334a2b5d9aa27859e36a9f870f2f88f and they match.
At this stage in the process, we just have to apply the Client Seed to the Result. We know the Client Seed was 19726, so we apply the Seed to the Result, which is the one with reel positions.
